WHAT WE DO

Unchained Stories is a social impact production company and media consulting firm that is creating a more just world through the power of stories. Our approach is rooted in values of deep listening and transformative collaboration and a commitment to structural change. We are storytellers and advocates with deep expertise in creating visual content and creating change.

Our impact lies both in the films, videos and multimedia stories we create, and also in how we create them. We are disrupting traditional production models by centering collaboration, building majority-female and majority-BIPOC teams and bringing principles of transformative justice in our process. And our mission to disrupt mass incarceration is woven through everything we do; we are providing training and employment opportunities for incarcerated and formerly incarcerated creatives, committed to hiring directly-impacted people onto every crew for every project.

We see our clients and partners as co-creators. Our work advocates for more just communities, abolishing incarceration, ending a system of policing rooted in racism and oppression, and uplifting the stories of elders, community leaders, activists and changemakers.
